When do I get £50 credit?
After agreeing to switch to Octopus Energy on their website using my referral link, you will get £50 credit added to your energy account. This is applied once you're on supply and you've made your first payment. Switching now usually takes just 3 days but some cases can take up to 14 days depending on your current supplier. You're covered by the Energy Switch Guarantee
How do I know I've received my £50 referral credit?
On signing up you'll be asked to create a password. This password logs you into your Octopus Energy dashboard. In the dashboard you have a clear view of how much credit is on your account. As you make your monthly payments your credit amount is increased and as you're billed credit comes off your credit balance. This gives you a clear view of whether your payment and bills are roughly the same. If you're paying for more energy than you use you can withdraw the surplus credit on your account. Likewise, if you're not paying enough to cover your bills you can increase your monthly payments to avoid building up debt.
Referring a friend will add £50 credit onto your account balance that can be used to pay your bills or withdrawn to your bank account.
Can I withdraw my Octopus credit to my bank account?
Yes. If you have built up credit over time you can email hello@octoenergy.com and request a partial credit refund. Octopus recommend keeping enough credit on your account to cover at least 1 months bill.
Can I refer a friend to Octopus Energy?
Yes. Every customer gets their own referral link. You can find this by logging into your Octopus Energy account. You'll have options to copy and paste your link to share how you wish or there are pre-filled messages that include your link to share directly on your socials.
Do Octopus offer the best prices?
Right now, Octopus customers on their flexible tariff are paying less than they would with any other large supplier.
There are a variety of smart tariffs that offer different discounted prices, such as their EV tariffs offering cheap rates at night or their 'Tracker tariff' that matches the wholesales price of energy so when energy prices drop their Tracker tariff price drops the same day.
Can I still claim £50 referral credit if I join a smart tariff?
Yes. To join a smart tariff you first sign up as you would on their website and you can request to switch to a smart tariff after you've signed up.
